This is a very well preserved 1961 Mercedes Benz 199SL. It won a Star award from Mercedes Benz at the Legends of the Autobahn at Monterey for Preservation Class.
This vehicle was a European delivery where the original owners toured Europe then returned back to the Mercedes Benz factory in Stuttgart where Mercedes Benz had the vehicle shipped to San Francisco to its owner.
The vehicle is an original survivor in Northern California and is owned by its second owner for the last 15 years.
The vehicle has its hard top and its soft top. The soft top remains in its very rare shipping crate with all of the port of entries custom stamps still in place.
In 2025 the vehicle was shown in a film entitled Maintenance Required on Amazon Video. It is shown driving along Big Sur and Monterey areas.
The vehicle has four new tires and shock absorbers and all mechanicals are in very good working order. It has its original Becker AM/FM radio and wind up click in working order. Its original red leather seats and most all original paint. The vehicle has always been stored in a garage.
