Most of the upgrades, custom parts, OEM AMGeneral H1 parts were ordered from the following vendors that customize H1 Hummers:
- https://predatorinc.com (this is where I purchased the H1), has all the original build specifications
- https://rubberduck4x4.com
Misc. Other H1 Resources:
2-Wheel Drive/4-Wheel Drive HL/AWD Shifter Instructions:
- 2H: Rear wheel drive (every day driving, improved fuel economy)
- 4HL: High Speed 4 Wheel Drive, Transfer Case Locked for Off Road Use-only (no pavement driving), Front & Rear drive shafts are locked.
- 4H: 4-wheel drive aka AWD (All Wheel Drive), Front & Rear drive shafts are NOT locked. Used for standard driving in winter snow conditions on pavement.
- 4L: Low Speed (Off Road) 4 Wheel Drive, Transfer Case Locked for Off Road Use-only (no pavement driving), Front & Rear drive shafts are locked.
- Warning/Precaution: Main Gear Shift Alison Transimission (5-speed) MUST BE in N (Neutral), not moving prior to engaging Off-Road gear settings. It is a mechanical system, the Off-Road gear shifter requires “Hard Shifter Movement” to & from 2H to other Off Road gear transition. Need to get “Educated” on H1 Off-Road Preparation & Use guidance on various H1 Hummer forums (e.g. https://hummernetworkforums.com/ )

- All systems clear
- New tires installed - Toyo Open Country M/T 38”x13.5”R20 (Menard – Music N Motion)
- Windshield washer nozzle upgraded/installed, new nozzles & hoses, new wipers

For changing gears from the everyday 2H (rear wheel drive) to other 4X4 gears for offroad use or snow paved road conditions vs. real off-road driving:
- Place H1 on a decline descent (road/hill)
- Engine running, place main transmission gear in N (neutral position) with foot brake ON
- Slowly release foot brake, get H1 slowly rolling down hill
- While very slowly rolling downhill, shift the off-road gear shift from 2H (rear wheel drive) for selecting the mode desired
- 4H 0r H = All Wheel Drive (AWD), good for snow, rain, paved roads, gravel roads (Differentials are NOT locked, TT4 NOT active)
- N = Neutral
- 4L or L = Full transfer case differential locked (TT4) mode for heavy 4-wheeling, gravel, snow/mud, sand terrain (NOT for pavement). TT4 Transfer Case Green Light will come on, confirming differential lock ON.
- Notes: It is a mechanical gear transfer case system (similar to JEEP’s), as you roll slowly down-hill in N (neutral, main transmission gear), driver may hear the Predator Custom Transfer Case “Click” as the gears move & lock into place after switching from standard 2H (rear wheel drive). This is normal. It allows driver to safely switch from 2H (high) to 4H (AWD) to N to 4L or L (low, all 4-differential locks activated for off road use only).
- To get back to your daily pavement 2H rear wheel driving mode, repeat the above steps to achieve 2H rear wheel driving.
- Warning: If driver pulls & changes off-road gear stick in parked position without rolling down-hill slowly to get the H1 in 4H or 4L, the transfer case will grind the gears & be damaged. It may not be operable nor go into gear without grinding/damaging the transfer case, and require repair or rebuild of Custom or Standard OEM Transfer case. This is typical & standard knowledge for Off-Roading, Overlanding people on mechanical geared 4X4 transmissions. Again, if driver is in stand-still position, they should NOT shift off-road gears. H1 should be in very slow motion downhill (slow steady foot brake) decline when shifting into off-road gears. Not difficult to perform, just need to “Understand” the requirements & basic “Know How” of mechanical off-road transmissions, Transfer Case and general operation for a “True” Off-Roading truck experience.
- Predator Custom Transfer Case with 2H: This is NOT available with OEM AMGeneral H1. 2H is Rear Wheel Drive mode, improves fuel efficiency for daily driving.
